Hello. My name is Troy Hollinger, I am a designer. My company is called TROY. I specialize in branding and website design. I have been a freelance designer for 10 years, working for clients remotely from my garage design studio. From print to web design, product development, interior design to interactive marketing, TROY can help you meet your needs.

I am a lead designer, very comfortable in leading and pioneering a way forward. I am adept in all Adobe programs (Illustrator & InDesign are my favorite), very well acquainted with my MacBook Pro and ready, willing and able to embrace all the new forms of technology emerging in our generation.

I was a general contractor for 5 years and builder for 5 years prior to that, from that experience I have a special ability to work with my hands, see and bring things from conception to fruition. Let's Design!

Branding, Website, Product, Interior, Designer.

I converted my garage into a small design studio. It keeps my cost of operation low and enables me to do what I love very close to my family. I started by jack-hammering a conduit trench into the concrete ground so that the desks and computer cabinet could have hard wire connections without that much exposed cords and cables. All the big furniture are built in structures connected to the concrete, then skinned with custom gray oak ply. This keeps things in their place and allows for the massive desk-top workspaces to have limited amount of intrusive floor space desk legs. Ample amount of storage space is provided down in the center of each desk along with a drawer for each workstation.

After a decade of doing design work for my growing clientele base, below are some of the things they have to say. My clients and colleagues know I am honest, genuine, trustworthy and I will do my best at whatever I set my hand to. It's a pleasure to work alongside them.

All the above named references can be contacted upon request. These 5 people are only a handful of many I could have named. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to do work for such good people. I have great clients, I hope to only grow from here. With a humble heart and a mind ready to learn, adapt and explore the future, I am ready to do and be more. Thanks for reading!

ACTIVISM

I try to keep it simple. I do not want finances to rule our potential together. That said, I understand the importance of things making economic sense. I have found this billing style to be most catalytic and enabling.

$50 – $75 an hour  |  Sometimes I'll provide fixed pricing per project.

I bill (for completed work) weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending the clients needs. Every project is different, this is a basic structure for us to know what to expect in figuring out how to meet the needs of your project. For example:

I like to do websites in 10 hour blocks at $75 an hour. Buying 20 hours will get you a basic but operational, ready to grow website. 20-40 hours is a much more elaborate website and more along the lines of what I like to do. The more time we spend the better the site will be. eCommerce sites take longer, typically 40-60 hours. Scopes of work may vary, I will do my best for you and we will create a return for your investment in me.

The whole point of this section is to communicate the idea that I am very approachable on the topic of finances. A lot of projects just need a simple conversation to figure out the funding plan, it's easy, we can do it. Hire Me..

Brand elements of t-shirt company I started in 2004 – Martin Smith of Delirious, I designed some of his stage apparel + their merch.

In 2010 I started a nonprofit organization called VIE. It's purpose is to make the abortion cause more effective… because Pro-Life and Pro-Choice have made a real mess of things (politics and religion don't help much either).

The abortion topic is a riddled mess. In it's current form you have two polarizing sides going at it radically, defining the cause and limiting the movement to extreme measures of side vs side, right and wrong idealogical warfare. It's a mess of a conversation that very few people want to be part of, including myself. So to simplify things, we launched Yellow Circles, a responsible reproduction campaign. It's purpose is to inspire people to do the best they can in preventing and dealing with unintentional pregnancy. Yellow Circles is pro-contraceptives, pro-waiting, pro-education, pro-liberality, pro-you. The website is awesome, view it here

OFFICE

Dustin owns a few businesses, a polespear product line, a tool and machine shop and a music project. We have done a lot of business together since 2008. As his designer my range of work varies from creative consultant, interior design to webmaster. It’s been a lovely journey thus far, we look forward to many more years of doing work together.

An abstract compliment to most but to me this means a lot. Jony Ives is Apple’s Chief Design Officer. He is the designer behind products such as the iPhone, iPad, Macbook and even the new iOS + OS operating systems. He does excellent work, I am glad to remind Jim – a entrepreneur and tech visionary – who I have done tens of thousands of dollars of work with of Sir Jony Ive.

Mike and I have spent countless hours together, we know each other very well. Together we are carving out his space in the world as an author and speaker. Our journey has tangibilized thus far in a few hardcover books, and beautiful eCommerce website along with a growing social media campaign. He is already a successful businessman, husband and father of 5...all that success and we still believe his best days are ahead of him.

It's been a pleasure doing work alongside Jan and her financial firm, One Degree Advisors. I love what she said about some of the first work I submitted to her and her team...something along the lines of, "you took our relatively small, new merging company and made it look and feel like a big, established one."

A fellow designer and friend since early 2000. Jon traveled the world for almost 20 years playing in one of my favorite bands [Delirious] as the bass player and webmaster ha! He is also the VP of my nonprofit org VIE. He’s a super high quality person who means a lot to me.

OFFICE

The studio can transform into a very effective photography studio. We have used it to shoot portraits, product stills and even some video. Pretty much everything you see on my site (and many others) was shot in here. There are 3 photos below to show you how the lounge area changes in minutes to a full on photo studio.

Behind my desk lounge area and off in the distance is my print station with large format drawers - NE 43º

Wayfinder, male/female vinyl on bathroom door - W 258º

You might be wondering why my office has VIE, visual identity empowerment written all over it. VIE is a non-profit I started to facilitate the development of an alternative to Pro Life and Pro Choice. The Abortion Cause is so wrongfully disabled by these two polarizing opposites going at it. I hope to create a solution for future generations to deal with this topic in a more effective manner. You can read more in my Activism section.

Move a couple things around and minutes later...Full-on Photo Studio! - W 258º

418 square feet of warmly lit recessed lighting, maple laminate covered floors contrasted by the industrial feel of roughly finished walls and a giant sliding dry-erase idea wall all covered in stark red vinyl create a clean, crisp atmosphere for us to engineer a better future. I designed this space in 2010, it meets my needs but I could do better now.
